Where we're coming from
mytechie is a company of technical support, internet and networking specialists working to help you get the most from your IT. We understand that if your system has stopped working, it's an urgent problem that you want resolving quickly, without fuss, and for as little cash as possible. We are an IT solutions company whose service is targeted at helping you to get the most from your IT equipment. We employ knowledgeable people whose expertise includes supporting clients without making them feel like idiots - a problem that is common in our industry. We aim to help you make the most of the equipment you already have, and only recommend that you spend money where we think you really need it. And if you want to know exactly what's going on, we'll use the words that normal people use wherever possible. We'll also be up-front about our charges. We know that we supply a valuable service, but we also know that your cash is valuable to you. Where we've come fromOriginally set up as a single-client consultancy, mytechie has grown organically as our clients have asked for additional services. From humble origins in a spare room, the company has developed into an organisation serving many key businesses in the Greater Manchester area. Specialising in small to medium-sized businesses, we pride ourselves in providing the service of an IT department without the overhead of a dank basement to keep us in (we provide that ourselves!), or having to keep pen-pocket-protectors in your stationery cupboard. Originally based in West Lancashire, we've come via Standish to Wigan - back to the Managing Director's roots. Who we areSteveSteve first started working in IT before leaving school. From there, he went on to gain a first class degree in Computer Science from Leeds, followed by a PhD in artificial intelligence. Post-doctorate work lured Steve to the south of England for a period, where he worked in a number of roles ranging across a wide range of industries - from data warehousing at B&Q to the modern equivalent of ticker-tape at Reuters. Steve was in the right place at the right time when the ".com" boom hit, and worked with some high profile technology companies on blue-chip projects before moving on to his own consultancy. Continuing to work with a number of clients, Steve found that he was attracting more work than he could handle, and so mytechie solutions was born.
JudeStarting out in the early '90s as a woman in IT, Jude was used to being stared at as an oddity, and got used to wearing long skirts. Working in the public sector for Hampshire County Council gave her a good grounding, but soon she moved to the big smoke and got some real cutting edge experience working with Europcar. After a stint at the Immigration & Nationality Directorate, with a sales office in Dublin and an even shorter time with Parsons Engineering, Jude took a career break to work in the craft industry. Eventually she came to her senses and returned to IT to work with Steve at mytechie.
ChrisThe newest member of the team in 2008, Chris is a networking & hardware specialist with a good range of knowledge of IT in the workplace. JohnAnother engineer, John is mainly using his extensive management experience to bear in his role at mytechie. |
